There are exciting changes happening at Loft Studio! We have a couple of new instructors and one returning!
We are offering a barre workshop on Saturday, June 13th, from 9:30am to 10:30am! Abbie Nordhagen will help you make the most of your barre workout. Abbie trained for 10 years at the Dynamic Dance Academy, taking one to two ballet classes daily. Proper form is vital in barre. In the workshop, Abbie will focus on three areas that are central to barre: arm positions, proper turnout and foot articulation. These three things will tone your back, butt and calf muscles. This is an ideal workshop for beginners as well as for those who have taken barre but want to step up their results! The cost is $15 or $10 for members. Join us as Abbie breaks down the barre!!
It’s me again! Hannah-the-bad-ass’s (sorry for swearing, Mom!) sister. So far, I’ve featured ethically made yoga pants, yoga mats, and yoga bags. But I realized I haven’t done any tops or bras, which is super embarrassing for all of you who started to show up to class without tops on. I’m sorry I haven’t been of help, but we should all be accountable for our own bad life choices. Check yourself.
Welcome back! This post is part of a series written by Hannah-the-yoga-cool-kid’s little sister.
I went to a yoga class this week, and I looked around and got all self-conscious when I realized I was down-dogging on a seven-year-old yoga mat from a big-box store. That has dirt smudges. I’m a sophisticated, competent woman, and I’m happy-babying on a dirty, flowery, cheap yoga mat? What would my sister think! It’s like that recurring dream I have about showing up in a court room to argue on behalf of the United States, only to realize I’m wearing that yellow bumblebee dress I used to love when I was five-years-old. In other words, my gear did not match my commitment to the activity.
That being said, I need a new yoga mat, and I need one that matches my commitment to both the activity and my conscience. So let’s talk some yoga mats that are good quality and that are made ethically.
I’m Abbie Joy, Hannah-the-yoga-queen’s kid sister. I like yoga, but I really like clothes. And I really like clothes made for yoga. And I really like clothes that love back. Like clothes that are made ethically–clothing made by people paid a fair wage, in clean conditions, and made in a way that respects the environment. And (shameless plug) I also write a blog about clothes that are made responsibly*. So I’m here today to show some yoga pants that are made by companies trying to do something better. And in the process they will probably show your tush some love, too.
